BUTTERMILK MOUNTAIN
If you are starting to think Aspen is ideal for higher level skiers, then its Buttermilk to the rescue. Offering around 34km of easier slopes with 5 lifts, it is the resort for beginner skiers, snowboarders (Superpipes) and families looking for gentle slopes and terrain park and superpipe junkies. It has limited accommodation and not the nightlife of Aspen Mountain area and Snowmass. Shuttles run regularly to the mountain from Aspen.
HIGHLANDS
Aspen Highlands has a good selection of intermediate skiing, but its mainstay is some of the most expert level runs in the area and is a ski bums/advanced levels favourite. On offer is around 135km of slopes with 5 lifts. At the base area there is beginner skiing available, but from the top down to midway newbies should choose their runs judiciously. It’s not a glamour resort compared to other 3 fields in the area, with a more down to earth feeling, that many love. It has limited accommodation and not the nightlife of Aspen Mountain area and Snowmass. Shuttles run regularly to the mountain from Aspen.
ASPEN MOUNTAIN
The ski resort is located within the town of Aspen offering over 100km of slopes with 8 lifts and a gondola, with over half of the mountain boasting the most spectacular advanced skiing to be found, in this highly famous ski region of Colorado. Plenty of off-piste powder skiing opportunities and plenty of steep runs to enjoy, Aspen will not disappoint. The beautiful and historic town at the base has a long history with a great après scene.
SNOWMASS SKI MOUNTAIN
Snowmass is one of the best ski resorts in Colorado. Its modern/purpose built, very large and has plenty of ski-in ski-out lodging around its base, plus lots of restaurants, bars, cafes with a great après scene. Over half of the mountain is ideal for the beginner to intermediate level, but don’t worry there are plenty of (around 45%) of advance runs to enjoy. In total there is around 237 km of slopes to discover, your days will be full. If you are looking for an all-round high-quality resort with terrain parks, then Snowmass will not disappoint.
