Banff is a town located in the Banff National Park, in the Canadian Rockies. It is the travel hub for the ‘Ski Big 3 Resorts’. The first two: Banff Sunshine (Sunshine Village) and Mt Norquay are nearest to the town, and the third Lake Louise, is around 40 minutes to the west. Banff has all budget/s accommodation within easy access to many fine restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops. Shuttles run regularly to all three resorts from Banff. Many choose to stay in Banff and ski all three via the ‘SkiBig3’ pass for at least one day at each resort, providing an epic 8000 acres of spectacular terrain to discover. Banff is a uniquely beautiful location that ticks every single box of a bigger than life snow vacation, and unrivalled in North America is our opinion.

BANFF SUNSHINE
Banff Sunshine (Sunshine Village) around 20minutes from Banff is the only ski-in/ski-out accommodation of the Big 3. Sunshine has 3350 acres of terrain for all levels. It sits the highest of the big 3, with the most and best snow. If you are looking to only spend time in one of the resorts and prefer to stay in a village at the resort, then this is your choice.
LAKE LOUISE
Lake Louise is a multi-award-winning resort particularly due to its famous beauty. It is the largest of the three resorts with over 4000 acres of skiable terrain. The resort is around 40minute west of Banff and is a world-famous location due to its magnificent landscape. It has a great layout and caters well to all levels, with some of the longest runs in Canada. Accommodation is out of the direct area in secluded hotels, which are at the high end of pricing, with luxury guaranteed. Guests will generally sleep and eat in the hotel. Unlike Sunshine, there is no base village in Lake Louise with no ski-in ski-out capacity.
MT NORQUAY
Mt Norquay around 10 minutes out of town is a local mountain, which you can see lit up most ski season nights from all over the town of Banff. It is 190 acres, and the family will love the night ski experience at Mt Norquay, which is close to accommodation should you be staying in the Banff town area. It is small mountain but has something for all levels and a terrain park as well, with the views of town at night simply magnificent.
